TX-RAMP provides a standardized approach for security assessment, certification, and continuous monitoring of cloud computing services that process the data of Texas state agencies.
Obtaining TX-RAMP Level 2 certification requires a comprehensive third-party assessment to demonstrate that organizations have implemented extensive security safeguards across areas such as data governance, access controls, encryption, audit logging, incident response, and business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
What is TX-RAMP?
According to the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR), which administers the program, TX-RAMP is “a DIR program that provides review of security measures taken by cloud products and services that transmit data to Texas state agencies. Cloud providers must comply with an established DIR framework and continuous compliance to be accepted. TX-RAMP was established from requirements put forth in Senate Bill 475.”
There are two certification levels:
- TX-RAMP Level 1 Certification: The required minimum certification level for a cloud computing service that processes, stores, or transmits agency data determined to be nonconfidential or a low-impact information resource.
- TX-RAMP Level 2 Certification: The required minimum certification level for a cloud computing service that processes, stores, or transmits agency data determined to be confidential and a moderate- or high-impact information resource.
YuJa has achieved the higher Level 2 certification, which has much more stringent requirements derived from NIST 800-53, as well as additional control standards and regulations.
